Frequently Asked Questions
"How do I get my tickets for the events?"
Your P50 Weekend Pass will be your name badge. You must have your name badge to get into the Welcome Back Pub and the Birthday Bash and Dance.
When you arrive at Parkside, one of your first stops should be the Registration Cafe (cafeteria) to pick up your BMO Registration Kit. It will have your name badge, Parkside Passport, food coupon for the Pub Night and other surprises.
The Registration Cafe is open:
Friday, May 28 - Noon 9:00pm
Saturday, May 29 - 9:00am to Noon
"I can only make it for one day. Do I still have to pay for the whole weekend pass?"
The committee looked at a number of pricing structures when determining the registration fees. Some reunions offer day fees but don't provide as many events. Some charge guests the same amount as Alumni, but we wanted to encourage people to bring their spouse, friend or partner. Others offer "per event" pricing, but in the end it actually costs more overall.
We were certain Parksiders would want to make the most of what could be the last milestone event in Parkside's history. And with so many great events and activities planned we believed registrants would be looking for better value. This weekend is being run on a very tight budget and in fact breaking even is dependent on reaching specific sponsorship contribution levels. Any net proceeds from the event will go to benefit current and future students through the Parkside 50 Legacy Fund.
"I've heard Parkside could be closing in the next 3-5 years. What will happen to the Legacy Fund?"
The Legacy Fund was initiated as part of the Committee’s mission to “Inspire our Future.” We wanted a Fund that would be used to benefit future and current students through awards and bursaries. Establishing the Parkside50 Legacy Awards would allow Parkside’s name to be carried on with future students in Dundas regardless of whether Parkside stays open. For more information about the current status reference this recent release: HWDSB Examines the Future of Secondary Schools.
"Why doesn't my name show up as soon as I've registered?"
Registration is the first step of the process. Each day volunteers check who has registered by PayPal and twice each week pick up cheques sent to the school. When your payment is received, your registration is complete. If you feel you should be showing up on the list, contact Eve: registration@parkside50.ca.
"Why does it look like not many have registered?"
First, the attendees list is showing Alumni only. 40% of Alumni are also bringing a guest. Second, there is a delay between Alumni registration and payment received. We are waiting for payment from nearly 100 Alumni and guests.
"Why isn't the 5k Run being held in the Park and the streets of Dundas?"
The original plan was to run it in the Park and on the nearby streets, but the City of Hamilton was going to require us to hire 9 Police Officers at a cost of over $3000. We're very fortunate to get the Conservation Area. It will be a beautiful nature run.
